  • Recipient of the L’Oréal Singapore For Women In Science National Fellowship (2014) and the Young Scientist Award (2016)

Prof Jackie Yi-Ru Ying

Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology

  • Graduated with B.E. degree summa cum laude from The Cooper Union in 1987
  • Obtained M.A. from Princeton University in Chemical Engineering in 1988 and Ph.D. in 1991.
  • Promoted to the rank of full professor at MIT at the age of 35
  • Returned to Singapore in 2003 to serve as the first executive director of the Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (IBN), A*STAR
  • Elected to the Singapore Women's Hall of Fame in 2014.
  • Currently has more than 170 patents granted or pending and 320 papers published
  • Recently named a Fellow of the United States National Academy of Inventors
